One might also note that, if one is being only ever so slightly facetious, it all tends to boil down into 'do more or less the same as everyone else, just try to do it slightly better'. Which, although it is often what practical business ends up being, it goes against much of what (at least traditional) strategy is supposed to do.
Maybe the whole concept of generic strategies should be replaced with something along the lines of "strategy tropes".
